Unified system of design documentation

Unified system for design documentation (ESKD)- a set of state standards that establish interrelated rules, requirements and norms for the development, execution and circulation of design documentation, developed and applied at all stages of the product life cycle (during design, development, manufacture, control, acceptance, operation, repair, disposal).

The main purpose of the ESKD standards is to establish uniform optimal rules, requirements and norms for the implementation, execution and circulation of design documentation, which provide:

application of modern methods and means at all stages of the product life cycle;
the possibility of interchange of design documentation without its re-issuance;
optimal completeness of design documentation;
mechanization and automation of processing of design documents and information contained in them;
high quality products;
the presence in the design documentation of requirements that ensure the safety of the use of products for the life and health of consumers, environment, as well as preventing damage to property;
the possibility of expanding unification and standardization in the design of products and the development of design documentation;
the possibility of certification of products;
reduction of terms and reduction of labor intensity of preparation of production;
proper use of products;
prompt preparation of documentation for the rapid readjustment of existing production;
simplification of forms of design documents and graphic images;
the possibility of creating and maintaining a single information base;
possibility of harmonization of ESKD standards with international standards (ISO, IEC) in the field of design documentation;
the possibility of information support for product life cycle support.

ESKD standards apply to mechanical engineering and instrumentation products. The scope of individual standards has been expanded, which is stipulated in the introduction to them.

Standards ESKD are distributed for products of mechanical engineering and instrument making. The scope of individual standards has been expanded, which is stipulated in the introduction to them.

The development of modern technology requires the implementation of a significant amount of all kinds of design documentation, which in turn entails the development of new types of design automation and design tools.

When performing drawings and other design documents, state standards should be observed. The drawing must be clear and easy to read, otherwise the time to manufacture the part or assembly unit will be increased.

The rules for the execution of engineering drawings were repeatedly revised and supplemented. Currently, all standards are combined into a single complex - under the general name "Unified System for Design Documentation" (ESKD).

All ESKD standards have the following designation structure: "GOST 2. XXX - XX".

This designation is deciphered as follows:

2 - number assigned to the entire ESKD complex

XXX - standard number (the first character is the code of the classification group, the last two characters
- the serial number of the standard in this group)

XX - year of registration of the standard
