What kind of demon did Medivh turn into? Magna Medivh - Walk of Fame of Heroes

Biography

Birth

Medivh's mother, Magna Aegwynn, was the only female guardian of the Order of Tirisfal, an organization created to protect Azeroth from possible demonic invasions of the Burning Legion. It was she who defeated the Demon Lord Sargeras. But death was planned by the fallen titan, since he put a piece of his soul into the body of the Guardian, hoping in the future to take away her power - the power of the most powerful creature of Azeroth.

Several hundred years later, the Council of Tirisfal forced Aegwynn to choose a successor and give him the power of the Guardian. Not trusting the sorcerers from the Order, for whom political intrigue was higher than the war with demons, she decided to give birth to a son-heir. To play her father, she chose Nilas Aran, a court sorcerer at the court of King Wrynn III, in Stormwind.

Childhood

Medivh's childhood was happy. He was raised by his father, Nilas Aran, and studied with the best magicians in the kingdom. Medivh's best friends were Anduin Lothar and Prince Llan. They often traveled together across the expanses of the kingdom of Azeroth. On the eve of his thirteenth birthday, Medivh experienced a huge surge of magical energy. The young man's body emitted strong streams of magic, which brought him unbearable pain. Nilas Aran, trying to save his son, died from one touch to him. To calm down the magical power of Medivh, the strongest magicians of the kingdom were gathered, but after that Medivh fell into a coma. The young man was transferred to the Northshire Abbey, where he was cared for by local clerics and his faithful friend Anduin Lothar.

Madness and Death

Medivh woke up twenty years later. A lot has changed about him. Most people in the kingdom thought he was mad, but no one, not even Aegwynn, realized the full extent of what had happened. The dark essence of Sargeras entered Medivh's body even before his birth, and waited until the Guardian's power was activated. Now, within the sorcerer there was a struggle between the power of the Guardian and the power of the Lord of the Legion, leaving no room for Medivh himself.

The sorcerer settled in the Karazhan Tower, in a crater among the Red Ridge Mountains. There Sargeras began to execute his plan. It was he who opened the Dark Portal and began the Horde Invasion. With their help, he planned to destroy the races of humans and high elves, and get to the Tomb where Aegwynn hid his body, closed to humans, elves and demons, but not to orcs.

Aegwynn learned about her son's betrayal and tried to reason with him, but she found out who was hiding in Medivh's body and fought with him. She no longer had the power of the Guardian, and Medivh defeated her. But this battle resonated deep in the soul of this strange creature - where the consciousness of the real Medivh was located. Soon the magicians of Dalaran sent a student to Medivh - a capable young magician named Khadgar. Together with Garona Half-Orc, a messenger from the Storm Robber clan to Medivh, they discovered that Medivh was owned by Sargeras. After some time, they informed King Llan about this, but he did not believe their fantastic story. But Sir Anduin Lothar listened to Khadgar and realized how dangerous Medivh could be. They, with a detachment of warriors, invaded Karazhan. In the basement of the tower there was a battle against a mad sorcerer. Khadgar, raising Lothar's blade, pierced Medivh. He killed the sorcerer, but at the same time freed him from the power of Sargeras. The demon's essence traveled into the depths of Curved Space.

The magical disturbance emanating from the site of Medivh's death was felt by mages many miles away from Karazhan. The orc sorcerer Gul'dan, who was scouring Medivh's head at that moment in search of the location of the Tomb, ended up in a coma, which led to a coup within the Horde.

Prophet

Many years have passed since the end of the Second War. Trouble returned to the world: the Alliance collapsed, the orcs broke free, many influential people renounced the Light for the sake of the Cult of the Damned, promising eternal earthly life. The world was on the verge of war. But no one suspected what a threat loomed over the whole world.

And among the general chaos, a powerful person appeared, who was named the Prophet. He warned of an impending invasion by armies of demons, and advised all mortal races to travel west to the forgotten lands of Kalimdor.

Medivh in World of Warcraft

Medivh appears in the mission "Caves of Time: Black Marsh" Caverns of Time: The Black Morass ) in The Burning Crusade, where the player can go back in time to protect Medivh during the opening of the Dark Portal in the Black Marsh, now the Cursed Lands. The mysterious Dragonoid is trying to rewrite history to prevent Medivh from opening the Dark Portal. But then the orcs would not have united with humans and elves, and the Burning Legion would have won the Battle of Hyjal and would have destroyed Azeroth.

In addition, in the game you can see Medivh's Karazhan tower and Medivh's staff, which shattered into 42 pieces.

Medivh was the last of the Guardians of Tirisfal, an ancient caste of protectors with great power to fight the demons of the Burning Legion. He was corrupted before his birth and subjugated by Sargeras, the Demon Lord, who used Medivh to carry out his plan to take over Azeroth. Medivh maintained contact with the orc sorcerer Gul'dan, and together they opened the Dark Portal, which allowed the Burning Legion to begin the conquest of Azeroth. He was soon killed by a small detachment of people led by one of his friends, Anduin Lothar. Shortly before the start of the Third War, Medivh returned as a mysterious Prophet to influence events and unite the mortal races into a final alliance, leading them to victory in the Battle of Mount Hyjal. The Prophet's name means "keeper of secrets" in Thalassian. He wielded Atiesh, the great staff of the Guardian.

Biography

Birth and childhood

Medivh destroys the Gurubashi tribe during the siege of Stormwind.

However, Aegwynn was not the only one who tried to resist the independent guardian. Arcanagos, a blue dragon and one of the guardians of magic, visited Karazhan and tried to turn Medivh away from the path he had chosen. In the end, the blue one decided to use force, but Medivh suppressed the dragon and burned it from the inside. Once again, Medivh had exhausted his strength and had to restore it.

Soon after this, the magisters of Dalaran sent an apprentice to Medivh. This young man was known as Khadgar, which means "Loyalty" in Dwarven. Time passed and the “Faithful Youth” became Medivh’s student. He lived in Karazhan with the others: Medivh, who taught him, the butler Moroz and the Cook.

At this time, a war began to flare up between the orcs and the people - the orcs kept coming and coming from the Black Marshes. Medivh was not worried about this and said that everything was going according to plan. Soon after, Garona Half-Orc arrived in Karazhan as an emissary of the Horde. Unbeknownst to anyone, Garona and Medivh had a brief affair that resulted in a mixed-race child, Med'an.

Khadgar was the first to discover that it was Medivh who allowed the orcs into Azeroth. At this time, Khadgar and Garona had an audience with King Llane and Anduin Lothar, and the latter were convinced of Medivh's treason. Lothar, one of Medivh's best friends, led a small detachment of people, which included Khadgar and Garonna, and who had to stop the mad Guardian. During the battle, Khadgar, aged by Medivh's magic, plunged Lothar's sword straight into the magician's heart. The demon inside Medivh awakened, but Lothar had already dealt the decisive blow, beheading the magician and casting Sargeras into the Void.

While in his prime, Medivh improved and fought Sargeras in his Karazhan tower. Medivh's power was so great that his death cast a curse on the once majestic tower and surrounding lands, now called Deadwind Pass. And the tower became such a dangerous and cursed place from which no one has ever returned (chain of the Violet Eye).

Resurrection

Appearance of the Prophet

After the Second War, a mysterious prophet appeared to various inhabitants of Azeroth. He tried to warn about the impending end of the world. The young leader of the Horde - Thrall, son of Durotan - had a dream where orcs and people fought with each other, while a rain of infernals came from the heavens. He woke up and the Prophet told him that it was a vision, and that he must go to the ancient lands of Kalimdor if he wanted to save his people. Thrall felt that the Prophet was telling the truth and set a course along the sea, west, to the distant shores of Kalimdor. Medivh, the Prophet, chose not to directly intervene in the coming war (leading some to think he was just a ghost) He has the ability to transform into a large, black bird.

The Horde made an exodus to Kalimdor, but the situation of the people was much more difficult. King Terenas of Lordaeron and Archmage Antonidas of Dalaran considered the Prophet crazy. The king's son, Prince Arthas, refused to leave his people in need of protection. Only Daelin Proudmoore's young daughter and Antonidas' student, Jaina, sensed that he might be right. When the Prophet appeared to her after the destruction of Stratholme, she heeded his warnings and began to prepare to sail. Jaina and her people departed for Kalimdor as the invasion began. Thrall arrived on Kalimdor in search of his destiny and his new acquaintance, Cairne Bloodhoof - the leader of the Bloodhoof tribe - suggested that he go to the Oracle. Thrall reached the Oracle while fighting the Lordaeron Expedition, but met Jaina and several others there. When they were ready to engage in battle, the prophet appeared. He told them that if they hoped to defeat the Burning Legion and save Azeroth from destruction, they must forget their differences and unite. They reluctantly agreed.

Medivh meets with the leaders of the mortal races.

Finally, the Prophet revealed himself when the time came to join forces. Appearing in a dream to Thrall, the night elf Malfurion Stormrage and Jaina, the Prophet told them that they must form an alliance to fight against a common enemy. He told them that he was Medivh, the Last Guardian of Tirisfal, and that it was through his fault that the orcs, and after them the Burning Legion, penetrated Azeroth. Thrall, Jaina and Malfurion became convinced that victory could only be achieved if their peoples united and they rallied to protect the World Tree, Nordrassil. At the decisive hour, the spirits of nature, summoned by the sounds of the Horn of Cenarius, appeared and destroyed Archimonde once and for all.

Confident that the world was safe for the time being, and that he was able to atone for his terrible sins, Medivh appeared to Med'an. Medivh disappeared to take his place "among the legends of the past." His actions saved Azeroth and made amends for his past crimes.

Subsequently

It is unknown where he went after the events of the Battle of Mount Hyjal. Perhaps his time on Azeroth came to an end and he left the material plane, or perhaps he simply retired to some remote location. Later, a black raven was seen continuing to fly over the tower of Karazhan, and there are suggestions that the Last Guardian still lingered in this world. But still, his fate remains unknown, and from his last words it is clear that we will never see or hear from him again.

Despite this, he left his reflection in Karazhan to pass on knowledge and power to his son, Med'an, so that he could decide his own destiny.

Circle of Hate

Although a lot has passed since the events began World of Warcraft, Medivh, in addition The Burning Crusade, occurs in one form or another in two instances. Strangely, Medivh's model and animation is based on a male night elf, not a human.

He appears in the quests Teacher's Permission, Return to Khadgar.

He starts and downloads the following tasks:

Caverns of Time

We first meet Medivh in the Opening of the Dark Portal, the second instance of the Caverns of Time, which opens after completing Escape from Durnholde. The story takes place in the Black Marsh as Medivh attempts to open the Dark Portal, and a group of players must protect him from the dragons of the Infinity flight, who are trying to kill him and stop the Portal from opening, preventing the orcs from invading Azeroth.

Medivh appears in the Karazhan attunement process. After obtaining fragments of Khadgar's Key from instances in Outland, Khadgar sends you to the Black Marsh to speak with Medivh and enchant the key to open the locked gates of Karazhan. Medivh will give you the Master's Key. However, you must first complete the instance before talking to him and getting the key.

Karazhan

Echoes of Medivh in Karazhan.

We meet Medivh twice more in his former domain, Karazhan, in Deadwind Pass, which was left after his death in the hands of Khadgar and Lothar shortly before the end of the Second War. Players meet "Echo of Medivh" in the chess room, where they must play a game of chess with him. "Projection of Medivh" is found on the Master's Terrace in the flashback scene of the battle with the blue dragon Arcanagos.

World of Warcraft: The Comic

In spite of his unknown fate, he left an avatar of himself in Karazhan to give a message of knowledge and power to his son, Med"an, so that Med"an could decide his own fate. The avatar commented himself as being gone from Azeroth.

Return to Karazhan

More than a decade passed before Medivh showed up again. This happened during the heroes' invasion of Karazhan, captured by the demons of the Burning Legion. Wiz'aduum the All-Seer was sent by Kil'jaeden to turn the ley lines passing through Karazhan to the service of the Legion. When the heroes and Khadgar reached the top of the tower, where everything around them was distorted due to the enormous amount of magic, Medivh suddenly appeared in front of them. He said that demons had already connected Karazhan with the worlds of the Legion. Medivh and Khadgar were busy destroying this connection while the heroes fought against Viz'aduum.

With the demon commander fallen, Khadgar and Medivh finally had a chance to talk. Khadgar told his former mentor that he would be a valuable ally in the fight against the Legion. But Medivh replied that he was following a different path and that Azeroth had already found a Guardian in the person of Khadgar. Finally, Medivh warned that many trials lay ahead, and, turning into a raven, flew straight into the Twisting Nether.

Death

Medivh's death is depicted in at least four different sources.

In the interlude "The Last Guardian" in the game's "End of Eternity" campaign Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos Medivh is shown in a flashback where he is killed by several marines. Although Lothar may have been the captain in the scene, Khadgar and Garona are nowhere to be seen. However, this can be explained by the fact that the two wore Stormwind robes as described in The Last Guardian, and were therefore shown to be simple foot soldiers.

Finally, in Flashback, we see that Medivh was stabbed in the heart by Khadgar, but Lothar just stands behind.

The idea that other people besides Lothar, Khadgar and Garona are involved in the event is supported by Shadows & Light (“...a band of human warriors...”) and Horde Player's Guide (“A group of people slowed down the invasion by killing Medivh”). But both sources confirm that Lothar, Khadgar, and Garonna were involved. In Tides of Darkness, it is explained that Lothar was with Garona, Khadgar, and a group of men when they defeated Medivh.

Atiesh

Medivh is held by Atiesh.

The most powerful wizards concentrate their powers into magical staffs, and Medivh is no exception. His staff Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian , was enhanced by an agent of Sargeras, increasing Medivh's already enormous power. When Medivh was killed, Atiesh was taken to Dalaran, where it was discovered that the spirit contained in the staff was capable of killing anyone who dared to take possession of it. Atiesh was locked in a secret vault, where he was kept for thirty years until Dalaran was destroyed by Archimonde. The staff was broken into 42 parts - 40 splinters, a pommel and a base.

The base, through an unknown means, came into the possession of C'Thun in Ahn'Qiraj (previously it was in the possession of Brann Bronzebeard, who found it during his explorations of Azeroth), and the pommel ended up in the possession of the necromancer lich Kel'Thuzad, who was responsible for summoning Archimonde. 40 slivers are in the hands of Kel'Thuzad's lieutenants in his stronghold of Naxxramas, in the Eastern Plaguelands. But even if it is possible to restore the staff, the corruption of Sargeras must first be expelled from it.

Personality

Medivh's spirit constantly fought with Sargeras for control of his body and mind. This struggle did not stop and, as a result, Medivh's state periodically fluctuated from complete calm and clarity to attacks of strange and incomprehensible behavior. It seemed to outsiders that he often made absurd decisions and unexpectedly changed his views. When the struggle between two entities became unbearable for the body, Medivh fell into a coma and did not respond to external influences. The duration of this state could vary from a few minutes to several months.

While Medivh controlled his body, he was friendly and wise. He assisted many high-ranking rulers and put the interests of the kingdom above all else. He defended Lordaeron from attack for many years and earned a reputation as a loyal defender of the lands. He was interested in other races and always enjoyed stories of distant lands or peoples.

But when Sargeras took control, Medivh's personality changed dramatically. He became sullen and distant and barely acknowledged the presence of close friends and virtually ignored strangers. He was secretive and often suddenly took off on long trips. In private conversations, Medivh was not above getting rid of visitors, using magic to kill or incapacitate them. But he understood that the leaders of Lordaeron could expose him, and in public he did not step out of character.

Medivh's tactics were often variable, depending on which entity was currently in control of the body. However, the general style is to stay at a distance and attack enemies with powerful spells. He often casts several spells and retreats, only to attack again later, but from a different position.

Status as an Eternal

Although the article does make a brief reference to his period as the legendary Oracle, it is not likely the reason for his Eternal status. The majority of the article concerned with the period when he had dual personalities where he struggled with Sargeras for control of his body, this includes the role-playing notes and combat section. It explains how others might react to his mood swings and personality changes. His abilities are also a combination of a guardian and Sargeras's abilities.

The book is also pretty clear that no new Eternals have appeared in modern times.

When Khadgar killed Medivh and destroyed the spirit of Sargeras, Medivh's spirit escaped. The spirit of Medivh foresaw the eventual downfall of Lordaeron, and with his mother's help his spirit attained form.

It should be noted Medivh considers himself no longer a human as he was before referenced by his quote in Warcraft III: "I left my humanity behind long ago. I am something...different now."

In this article you will learn:

Medivh from the Warcraft universe character from books, comics, games and films.

In 2016, the film “Warcraft” was released, where the character was played by actor Ben Foster.

early years

Medivh was born from a union of magicians - Aegwynn, the Guardian of Tirisfal and Nilas Aran, a magician and advisor to the king of Stormwind in the human world - Azeroth.

The boy's parents were outstanding people, his mother fought with the Burning Legion 500 years before his birth and was considered one of the best wizards, having defeated Sargeras, the titan, ruler of the Legion. (However, the titan did not die; he transferred his spirit into Aegwynn’s body and began to wait).

Aegwynn, wanting to transfer her power to her own child, seduced the court magician Nilas. Thus was born a boy who was named Medivh (from Elvish - keeper of secrets) and who was given to his father to be raised in Stormwind.

With the power of his mother, Medivh also inherited the essence of Sargeras. Since the powers manifested themselves towards adulthood, the boy had a happy childhood. His best friends were Prince Wrynn and Anduin Lothar.

At the age of fourteen, Medivh had a terrible dream. Terribly frightened, the boy went to his father, who, by touching him, awakened the energy given by his mother. Nilas died from this energy, and Medivh went into a coma for 20 years.

A fall

The magician woke up at the age of 34, safe and sound. Despite feeling great, his thoughts were twisted by Sargeras.

Since Medivh was the most powerful mage in Azeroth, he was made the Protector of Terisfal, an independent guardian, at the request of his mother Aegwynn. He settled in the tower of Karazhan, in the pass, in the place where all the power lines of the world converged, With the butler Morose and the Cook. Medivh, as the strongest wizard, concentrated his powers in the staff of Atiesh, which was later strengthened by Sargeras.

Soon, Medivh began to be tormented by a thirst for power. He began studying the records of the Legion, intending to destroy the people of Azeroth who prevented him from achieving his goal.

Orc Invasion

The magician found a way out in the world of Draenor, where warlike orcs lived. Communicating with another world, Medivh made a deal with, to whom he promised to show the place where Sargeras was buried, in return the shaman had to bring orcs to his world and destroy people.

Medivh and Gul'dan opened the Dark Portal between the worlds, beginning the invasion of the orc people into the world. The magician assured the Council that everything was going according to plan, while the orcs kept coming and coming to Azeroth.

Upon learning that Medivh had opened the portal, his mother tried to convince her son that what he had done was wrong. But the magician was not going to listen to her. After a short battle, Medivh drove Aegwynn away by casting a spell on her.

Soon, the masters sent Medivh a student named Khadgar (from Elvish - loyalty).

After the start of fierce battles, the half-blood Garon, an emissary of the Horde, arrived at the Tower of Medivh. It is not known whether Garona was sent to the magician by Gul’dan and for what purposes, but a connection occurred between them, after which the half-breed had a child, Med’an.

Medivh and Garona

Death

Khadgar caught Medivh for the crime he committed. Therefore, at a reception with King Rinn, he convinced him of his teacher’s betrayal.

Medivh's best friend since childhood, Lothar gathered a small detachment, which included Khadgar and Garonna, with the goal of stopping the crazy magician. They arrived at the magician's tower, where a battle took place, during which Medivh aged Khadgar, but he managed to plunge Lothar's sword into him. Sargeras awakened inside the magician, but Lothar finished off Medivh by cutting off his head.

Since Medivh was the most powerful magician in Azeroth, his death placed a curse on the tower and the surrounding areas - now this place began to be called Deadwind Pass, from which no one returned.

Mage's Staff - Atiesh, who was still deadly, was locked in a secret location in Dalaran.

Prophet

Although Medivh's body died, his spirit managed to escape. Soon, he took on a material form, appearing as a Prophet capable of transforming into a bird. Now Medivh was no longer tormented by the spirit of Sargeras, now he became himself.

After the end of the First War, the Prophet appeared to the inhabitants of Azeroth in order to warn them about the impending end of the world, the coming of Archimonde, the right hand of Sargeras. The magician lost most of his power and preferred not to interfere in the affairs of the world anymore.

Prophet - Medivh

One of those to whom Medivh appeared was the leader of the Horde, Thrall, who listened to the magician. The King of Lordaeron considered the Prophet crazy. The only person who believed in the end of the world was Jaina Proudmoore.

The Prophet was the man who stopped the orcs and humans from slaughtering Kalimdor, convincing them to unite against a common danger - the Burning Legion. Medivh appeared in a dream to three leaders - Jaina, Thrall and Malfurion, revealing the secret of his identity and saying that it was his fault that the orcs and the Legion ended up in Azeroth.

Ben Foster as Medivh and the film “Warcraft”

At the Nordrassil tree, Archimonde's army was defeated thanks to the unification of three armies - humans, orcs and elves.

With this very event, Medivh atoned for his past atrocities by disappearing. He left a message, power and knowledge, to his son Med'an in the tower of Karazhan. No one knew whether he left this world or not, but no one saw him again.

Medivh is one of the key heroes of the vast Warcraft universe, which we will talk about today.

Biography

Birth

659 AD, Azeroth, Eastern Kingdoms, Outskirts of Lordaeron.

Magna Aegwynn, Guardian of Tirisfal, having chosen as her husband an outstanding magician at the court of Stormwind, Nilasa Arana, gives birth to his son, Medivh.
Medivh received the abilities of a Mage (from his father), a Warlock (from the Fallen Titan dormant in him).
At birth, the boy receives the title of the growing Guardian of Tirisfal and is trained in this responsible duty from a young age.

Childhood

Medivh's childhood was quite happy and eventful. He was raised by his father and sent to be trained by the best magicians of Dalaran.
Medivh's best friends were Anduin Lothar and Prince Llane. They often traveled around the kingdom together.
Medivh gained knowledge, practiced his abilities as a guardian, and learned the secret precepts of the Order of Tirisfal.
On his thirteenth birthday, Medivh experienced a huge surge of magical energy. His body emitted huge streams of lasso, which caused him unbearable pain. The father tried to save Medivh and died after touching him. The strongest magicians of the kingdom gathered to calm down the magical power of Medivh, but after this the young man fell into a coma for 20 years. Medivh was transported to Northshire Abbey, where he was cared for by healers and Anduin Lothar. All this time, the Guardian of Tirisfal and the Demon Lord fought in it, leaving no room for Medivh himself.

Sargaras

After 20 years, Medivh woke up, but everything in him had changed: character, behavior, tastes. Even his mother could not understand what was happening to him, although she herself became the cause of these oddities. At the time when Aegwynn was the Guardian, Sargaras himself penetrated Azeroth, but not completely, but only his avatar, which contained part of the soul of its owner. Sargaras allowed himself to be killed with half a kick, possessing Aegwynn and waiting for the right moment for many years.

Medivh settled in his fortress of Karazhan. Sargaras slowly began to execute his plan. It was he who opened the Dark Portal and began the Horde Invasion. With the help of the orcs, he planned to destroy the races of people and high elves and get to the Tomb where Aegwynn hid his body, closed to people, elves and demons, but not to orcs.

Death

Finally, Aegwynn realized that she had made a mistake by allowing Sargaras to inhabit the body of her son, receiving the most powerful magician of Azeroth into her arsenal. She fought him, but the guardian's power had long since left her and Medivh easily won.

Soon, the council of Dalaran sent a student to Medivh - Khadgar. Together with the half-orc Garona, a messenger from the Council of Darkness from Gul'dan, they discovered that Medivh was possessed by Sargaras. Returning to the kingdom, they informed King Llane about the vicious side of the Guardian. Llane at first did not believe that his childhood friend was possessed by the lord of the legion, but Lothar listened to Khadgar. They burst into Karazhan, in a heated battle, Khadgar chose the right moment, took Lothar’s sword and pierced Medivh’s chest, freeing him from Sargaras and set off to plow the endless expanses of the Twisted Void.

Gul'dan, who at this time had been trying to find information in Medivh's head about the location of the Tomb of Sargaras for several days using telepathy, fell into a coma.

The remains of Medivh and his mother were buried near Karazhan, in a labyrinth of tombs.

Life after death

Much time has passed since those events; for many years there have been no major attacks by the remnants of demons on anyone. The world was gripped by political upheavals: the split of the Alliance, the expansion of orc tribes, and the extensive activities of the Cult of the Damned. The eastern kingdoms were on the verge of war.
Amidst all the general chaos, a Prophet appeared, who tried to convince all mortal races to go to the distant, unknown Kalimdor and spoke about the danger of an invasion by an army of demons.

Thrall, the leader of the New Orc Horde, on the advice of the spirits, believed him. He himself knew about the power of the demons that once corrupted the orc race, and he understood the danger that their return promised.

Then the Prophet, turning into a raven, flew to the Capital of Lordaeron. King Terenas II, a very inactive ruler, did not believe the words of the Prophet, just as he considered the advice of the Kirin Tor magicians about the danger of a magical plague to be paranoid. The king naively believed that nothing could be worse than the Second War...

The Prophet also warned Prince Arthas about the danger to his country, and to him personally. But the young man, obsessed with a thirst for revenge against Mal'Ganus, who commanded the Scourge army, also did not consider these words significant.

Only Jaina Proudmoore, a young sorceress from Dalaran and daughter of the great Admiral Proudmoore, shocked by the destruction of Stratholme by Arthas, believed Medivh and took hundreds of people overseas.

Since then, the Prophet disappeared for a short time, and did not try to resist the deeds of Arthas. It was only when old enemies, humans and orcs, led by Jaina and Thrall, rose simultaneously in his hideout that the Prophet advised them to unite in the fight against the Burning Legion.

On the eve of the Battle of Mount Hyjal, the Prophet gathered together the leaders of the mortal races - Thrall, the leader of the orcs, Jaina, the leader of the people, Farion, the chief druid of the night elves, and Tyrande, the High Priestess of Elune, and revealed to them who he really was.

This was Medivh, the last Guardian of Tirisfal. His mother, Aegwynn, gave her last strength to resurrect her son so that he could correct the mistakes of the past. There, in Warped Space, the habitat of the spirits of the dead and the abode of demons, he learned about the Legion's plans.

With his help, all races united and gave battle to the Burning Legion. The demons suffered a crushing defeat, and one of the strongest demons, Archimonde, died moments away from his goal.

Family tree

Magnus Medivh

Grandparents: unknown.

Parents: Magna Aegwynn - mother, Nilas Aran - father.

Living relatives: Wife - Garona Half-Orchie, Son - Med"an.

Guardian's Staff

Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian, is a relic of the Order of Tirisfal, a weapon passed down from one Guardian to the next. The staff's properties included interactions with any type of sorcerer, from mage to druid, virtually limitless strength, and the ability to take the form of a raven. The last one to take possession of the staff was Medivh, being the Guardian. Sargaras, being in Medivh as if behind a stone wall, but still not impregnable, was afraid of exposure and strengthened the staff for Medivh, but this did not help him.

The story of the movie Warcraft is based on the Mage Medivh, who has an interesting history in World of Warcraft. Today we will complete our acquaintance with Medivh.

A quick look at Medivh's past

Medivh was born a great magician and inherited the magical power of the Defenders of Tirisfal. However, not only did Medivh receive power from his mother, but also the demon. The demon Sargeras once sacrificed his physical shell in a battle with Aegwynn, Medivh’s mother, in order to bite into the soul and mind of Aegwynn’s unborn descendant.

Medivh grows up side by side with Prince Llane Wrynn and warrior Anduin Lothar. When Sargeras awakened inside Medivh, the guy fell into a long coma. Having awakened, Sargeras forces Medivh to hide from the world in the dark tower of Karazhan, where he slowly but surely drives the magician mad. Medivh, under the leadership of Sargeras, opens a portal to the world of orcs and the orcs enter our lands.

Medivh creates a monster

The dark spirit of Sargeras became the crooked prism of Medivh's perceptions and thoughts. Medivh kills the Dragon, who came to warn Medivh, and turns him into an evil spirit - Nightbane.

Medivh's Apprentice

While the walls of Karazhan drive Medivh crazy, the magistracy does not know what the magician in the post of Defender is doing. Masters, as required by protocol, send the trainee to the master of magic so that he can learn. The young student turned out to be Khadgar. In truth, he was still a pain in the ass, so he was taken to the most terrible magician. He knocked on the doors of Karazhan and a strange old man opened the door for him. Medivh was surprised, but let the boy in.

Khadgar became the light in the delirium of the walls of Karazhan, which Sargeras builds in the head of Medivh.

While Khadgar is learning magic from a strange old man who is cheerful one moment and withdrawn the next, orcs keep coming out of Medivh's Black Portal and taking over the Black Marsh. People gather a resistance army and a war begins. For the first time, Orcs and Humans, in the future, Horde and Alliance are fighting.

Khadgar asks Medivh what kind of ruined place is this where Karazhan Tower is located? Karzhan is located in Dead Wind Pass. A dark and sinister place. It was created by a large magical explosion, which is why Karazhan itself is imbued with magic. There is devilry going on in it and only a brave person can live here.

Khadgar: So this place was created by a magical explosion and you found this tower later?
: Yes, but only if you look within the framework of our perception of time. Magic is difficult. The place was created by an explosion as I was destined to find it.
Khadgar: But that doesn't happen.
: Not in everyday life. You need to learn the art of avoiding the ordinary perception of the world.

Khadgar discovers Medivh's dark secret

Khadgar, living side by side with Medivh, begins to realize that his teacher could open the Dark Portal and let a horde of orcs into Azeroth. The main reason for suspicion was the complete unwillingness to go help in the war with the orcs. One night, the magical walls of Karazhan, full of temporal and spatial paradoxes, show Khadgar visions of Medivh opening a dark portal.

Khadgar in Stormwind

Khadgar takes his suspicions to the king himself in Stormwind. Medivh's childhood friends: King Llane and the head of the human army, Anduin Lothar, listened to the young magician and, after comparing everything with intelligence, they understand that their friend Medivh is a traitor to his homeland. The king instructs Lothar to investigate.

At that time, the insane Guardian almost completely loses his head. Medivh summons the spirit of his father and traps him in Karazhan, where he will rot with other crazed ghosts for years to come.

Khadgar, with the support of the King's squad, goes to kill Medivh in Karazhan for betraying their world. A big battle takes place and Khadgar ages from Medivh's spell, but the student manages to grab the sword and plunge it into the teacher's heart. Medivh was able to see Sargeras inside himself at the moment of impact. Time froze and Medivh understood everything, saw everything from the outside and his mind became clear. Now that he knows what is happening to him, he will be able to expel the demon from himself. Medivh wants to explain everything, but Lothar, who considers Medivh to be evil, cuts off his head.

The death of the last defender places a monstrous curse on Karazhan and only a complete crazy person will dare to go there.

Fall of Stormwind

Lothar and his squad return victorious, but instead of the capital they see death. The capital of the human empire, Stormwind, was captured by orcs. Now, by right, Lothar needs to gather an army and recapture Stormwind, but that’s a completely different story. Many years later, Medivh will be resurrected and play an important role in the history of the Lich King, but that is a completely different story.

Image of Medivh

Medivh is a victim. He did not wish evil, he was forced to accept bad deeds by Sargeras. And of course, the ending with misunderstanding of the situation and death at the hands of a friend is very strong. Medivh is the one who changed the world of Warcraft forever by opening the Dark Portal. And apparently this is the story that will be played out in the Warcraft movie.
