Christening at Pokrovsky Monastery, introduction of mother. Who baptized children from the matron, the relics are not anywhere, but in the temple

Yes, I'm a little late today. It’s time to return home, but I’m just going to the monastery. For a long time I couldn’t decide whether to go to Matronushka’s Epiphany or go to the local church. In addition, on January 19 at 14.30 in the city, according to the plan, immersion in water in an ice hole on Black Lake. Would like to watch. If you like it, then you could paint a picture on the topic.

However, I was in one local church yesterday, on Epiphany Eve. And this means that today it would be possible to visit Matronushka. That’s how I decided to visit the Intercession Monastery. Assuming that there would be huge queues there that day, having bought a bouquet, I immediately decided that if I didn’t have the strength to wait in line, I would hand over the flowers through the security guard and leave.

On the way, I stopped at a church shop near St. Nicholas Church. I bought candles that were surprisingly cheap, but how pleasant they are, exuding a honey aroma and quite large!
While I was buying candles, a woman came into the shop and asked where she could get holy water. She was cordially told how to get to the temple doors.

I had been meaning to go there for a long time to take a look, but for some reason something kept stopping me.
“It would be nice to enter this temple today,” I daydreamed, paying for the candles.
However, upon leaving the shop I immediately went to Matronushka. It was noticeably getting dark, so we should hurry up.

Entering the territory of the new building of the Intercession Monastery, I noticed a long line.
- This line, of course, is several times smaller than the one in which I once joined the relics of St. Spyridon of Trimythous or Salamis.
Then I never got to the monastery to venerate his relics. Health did not allow it and time indicated that the metro would end its work, and even more so, buses would stop running between Moscow and Zelenograd.

This time everything was simpler. As it turned out, at the Intercession Monastery the longest line led to Epiphany water.
Of course, the most important thing for me in the monastery is my Matronushka. That’s why I went straight to her, to her relics.
After standing in line, and the line moved quickly enough and was not a burden to me, I venerated the relics.
Having visited Matronushka, she approached those selling water dishes. Having paid for the purchase, I left the gates of the main monastery. The queue for the water has become much shorter.
Having settled down in her tail, she began to think:
- Will I have time, will I not have time to get water?
But my fears that I might not make it in time turned out to be in vain.
Very soon I was standing in a glass gallery, and very polite and friendly men were pouring water into my two jars.

Thank you, Matronushka! Thank you!

After leaving the monastery, she quickly headed to the metro.
“We have to be in time,” the main thought drilled into my brain.
And then I remembered the wonderful candles I bought in the shop on the way to Matronushka.
I should buy more. May I have these wonderful candles at home.
Entering the shop, I was surprised by the other candles. They were so big that I probably would never have bought them in other churches. These are very expensive.
But my gaze fell on the price - 35 rubles.
“There can’t be such a price,” she was perplexed, standing in front of the candles.

Z Hello, dear visitors of the Orthodox website “Family and Faith”!

WITH Today (January 17) Sunday, which in the Church is called the Week before the Epiphany, I visited the Intercession Monastery and became familiar with the gracious spirit living within the walls of this holy monastery!

The beautiful Christmas tree was even more beautiful today! All snow-covered, it looked like a wonderful tree of paradise!

And the bouquet of flowers that I collected from was also beautiful and, in the midst of a snowy winter, reminded with its liveliness and aroma of Eternal heavenly life!

Having prayed before the relics, I handed over the flowers and, as well as kissing the holy shrine, I also attached your notes, asking the blessed old lady Matrona to read all your requests!

For all our donors, the site “Family and Faith”, on behalf of the site Administration, I placed a large common candle in front of the relics of Blessed Matronushka!

And may the Merciful Lord Jesus Christ help us in our petitions, for the good of the salvation of the soul, through the prayers and intercession of the holy righteous blessed Matrona of Moscow!

N The feast of the Epiphany is approaching, which is also called Epiphany. On the day when Jesus Christ came to be baptized on the Jordan River, the Holy Trinity appeared: the Son of God - Jesus Christ in His human flesh, the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove and God the Father, who proclaimed from heaven: “This is my beloved Son, in whom my favor."

On January 19, many people plunge into the Jordan, thereby imitating the Lord Jesus Christ. This custom is pious. Many priests adhere to it, plunging into the consecrated pond with the sign of the cross three times. But, unfortunately, many non-churched people, due to their lack of enlightenment, think that after immersion, all sins are forgiven. This misconception comes from antiquity, since in the outbacks of Russia peasants sacredly believed in the effective washing away of all sins after plunging into the Jordan. In fact, the human soul is washed at the Sacrament of Confession, where the Lord forgives all sins to a sincerely repentant person. Bathing in the consecrated Jordan does not have such great power, and yet it has a beneficial effect on the body and soul of a person. The main thing is to approach this pious custom with prayer.

On January 18 and 19, water will be blessed in all Orthodox churches with the Great Consecration. This water is called Epiphany or Epiphany water. Again, there is a debate among people that the water blessed on Epiphany Eve differs from the water blessed on the feast of Epiphany. In fact, it is not so: both on Epiphany Eve and on the feast of Epiphany itself, water is blessed with the same rite, so its beneficial power is no different.

Epiphany water is a great shrine, the best medicine for body and soul! New things, a home, and, of course, body and soul are consecrated to her. Therefore, you need to have this shrine at home, and during illness, take it with prayer, like medicine.

I congratulate you all, dear brothers and sisters, on the holy and great feast of Epiphany - Epiphany!

I am attaching to my message a story about Blessed Matrona’s help in family relationships, which was sent to the editor by our visitor Victoria:

Z Hello! My name is Vika and I also want to tell everyone about what Matronushka did for me! There was a very difficult period in my life... I had a strained relationship with my husband for a long time and eventually broke up... and he left me with my little son and continued his carefree life with another girl... practically did not help at all... and to all this I I lost my job, which was generally very strange... the company existed for more than 20 years and just went bankrupt one day... I understand that in life everything can be much worse and worse, but for me it was all just a bad dream... I tried to improve my relationship with my husband, but he categorically removed me from his life, and what’s more, he stopped coming to see his son... one day, about 2 months later, he appeared, but the son refused to go anywhere with him (he was 4 years old) and in general the child was also going through everything very hard... in general, his condition I had a simply terrible experience..I was constantly crying, I couldn’t pull myself together and didn’t know how I could even live on, and I did all this deeply hiding inside myself, not showing my condition to anyone...I lost a lot of weight...I had no appetite at all...nothing. why... I was in despair... and at one point I wanted to find some prayers on the Internet about saving the family and the like, I wanted to pray and ask for forgiveness for everything... I accidentally opened the site and it was the Holy Mother who attracted my attention Matronushka))) I wanted to know more about her) I read her biography and was very touched by her life... then I prayed every day... cried and prayed... I know the akathist almost by heart... I always prayed when I was very bad and what’s most interesting the first thing I started to notice was that when I finished praying, my husband called almost immediately and asked me to let him take a walk with his son))) I was sitting at home without work... it was very hard... I came up with something to earn money, but it was very difficult to do... I believed that I could and I threw myself into organizing this idea... I spent more than a month - no results... I sat in the room late at night very upset, crying... I was very upset... because I really wanted it to work out for me, but nothing worked... and I said in tears, “Matronushka, dear, please help me... and asked specifically what I wanted... And in the morning they gave me an answer and everything worked out for me)))) although it was all just a miracle... and then I believed in miracles of Matronushka, believed that Matronushka hears us all and works miracles...
The result of my story is this: my husband and I live together :-))) I now have my own small business))) and in general everything is fine!!!
I am very grateful to Matronushka!!! Don’t lose faith...pray...ask...and everything will be as you want it if it comes from the heart and from the soul!!!

I I agree with Victoria. Indeed, you need to pray with all your heart and rely on the help of the holy blessed Matronushka!

Finally, I would like to wish each of you, dear brothers and sisters, God’s help, peace, joy, patience with each other, and the Lord’s fulfillment of your requests, through the intercession of the holy blessed Matrona of Moscow!

God bless you!

WITH Best regards, editor Tatiana.

Hello Vika, I read your story, and I have even more hope for the best, I have a similar situation at the moment, only two little sons, my husband got a long-awaited job, he serves under a contract, so everything has changed, he left for another city, started free life, we were all shocked by what he became, he was very decent, responsible, in general, everything was for the sake of the family, but how he broke away from us, how he was replaced, I feel that there is something not good with him, that he wants and with us and is holding something, I forgave him everything, because I can’t believe that he has changed and he doesn’t need us, if he really didn’t need us, he wouldn’t have sent gifts, money, etc., but just would disappear, but I feel, I believe, the saints will help me, I pray and no, God hears and will help, Matronushka also helped me in many ways, but I ask her for the cherished thing, so that my husband will come to his senses and everything will work out only for the good. I I’m happy for you, Vika, that everything is fine with you! God grant you family well-being and happiness. Of course it hurts me a lot, but I believe that soon everything will return to normal with God’s help and the prayers of the saints.

I want to convert to Christianity (baptize). I would really like to do this at the Intercession Stavropegic Convent in Moscow. Is it possible to do this?

Dear Anastasia!

Nothing should stop you from doing this. Baptism is the greatest sacrament that introduces us into church life, it is the door to the Kingdom of God, the source of God's grace. Only after Baptism can a person begin the rest of the church sacraments, which are given to us for sanctification, strengthening and for our spiritual improvement. Without baptism, we cannot begin any sacraments, we cannot even come to repent. It was a great blessing when we underwent the sacrament of Baptism, because from that moment we have many opportunities in our lives to receive help from God in sorrows, illnesses, and trials. And, conversely, those who do not accept the sacrament of Baptism are deprived of these opportunities.

Often, when asking people: “Do you believe in God?”, you can hear the answer: “I am baptized.” This is a good answer, but do you know the meaning and importance of this Sacrament? What does faith in God and baptism have in common, why is baptism needed, what does it have to do with us today? To understand this, we need to turn to the original sources of Christianity - look at the Church of the first century, the First Apostolic Church.

The word itself "baptism" - “baptizo”, translated from Greek means “complete immersion in any environment”. Baptism can be compared to the taking of the oath by a soldier or the betrothal of the bride and groom. In the 1st century Church there was no tradition of wearing a cross on the chest or making the sign of the cross - people came up with all this much later, making it a tradition and religious ritual. Faith in Jesus Christ was then oppressed, prohibited and eradicated, so for accepting baptism a person risked everything - property, respect in society, home, family, freedom and even life. It took great courage and dedication to declare in front of everyone, “I am a Christian.”

Before beginning His earthly ministry, Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan River. John baptized people who wanted to clearly demonstrate their repentance for sins. Jesus was not a sinner, because He is the perfect Son of God, but nevertheless received baptism, saying: “So it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness. Then John admits Him"(Matthew 3:15). Biblical baptism was fundamentally different from what we see today. Firstly, not every person can be allowed to be baptized, not to mention the invented “church business” - the tradition of baptizing infants or taking money for baptism. Secondly, biblical baptism is the complete immersion of a person in water.

How did people get baptized in the 1st century Church? On Trinity Day, the apostles, inspired by the Holy Spirit, took to the streets of Jerusalem and began to boldly preach about the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. When the people, moved by their preaching, asked: “What should we do?” Peter answered: “Repent and be baptized each of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins; and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit"(Acts 2:38). Be sure to read this chapter. The first and main condition for baptism must be sincere repentance of sins. How can an infant repent or what should he repent of? This can only be done by a person who understands what he is doing. Peter further said: “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” In other words: “Avoid the depraved way of life that people live and live a holy life.” We see that the consequence of baptism should be a change in lifestyle. Have people who received traditional baptism changed their lives or are they living holy lives? If not, then the baptism was insincere, unbiblical - nothing more than an empty ritual.

Jesus, leaving the earth, commanded His disciples, that is, the Church: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen"(Matthew 28:19,20). Jesus did not say, “Whoever crosses himself with the sign of the cross will be saved.” The original text contains the word “baptizo” - “to be baptized, to immerse.” In other words, the one who will be saved from hell and death is the one who repents, is baptized in water, and continually immerses himself in God's life: studying His word, praying, fellowshipping with other Christians in church, serving his neighbors, loving his enemies, submitting to authorities, and fulfilling all righteousness. like the Savior Jesus Christ Himself. In this case, it is a process, not a one-time action. So, baptism is more than going through a certain ritual, it is repentance, a decision to devote one’s life to God, immersion in the life of the Church and a complete change in lifestyle. After being baptized, you will no longer remain the same, but your interests, priorities, life principles, thinking, environment - the whole way of life will change. God begins to help cope with life’s difficulties, because after being baptized, a person moves into the territory of His Kingdom. In other words, baptism is a separation from the old way of life and the adoption of a new one.

Many of those who want to be baptized or baptize a baby are not aware of the importance of this step, its meaning and meaning.

For what purpose do we baptize children? It's rare to hear the right answers. Spoken: DIn order to be baptized or Russians must be baptized, or So that they believe and are healthy, or So that they have faith, or For everyone case and so on.

It is hardly worth examining in detail the inconsistency of such answers. They are like oil oil.

Know that the purpose of baptism should be one: union with God for eternal life. One should not look for health, intelligence, or learning abilities in this mystery. This is secondary - it should not overshadow the main thing. Christ said: « Look for itbefore the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matt. 6:33). Remember, or better yet, realize that through baptism we are given entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Pet. 1:11).

Holy baptism is not a tradition, not a custom or a rite, it is a great Sacrament! Baptism must be taken seriously; you cannot approach it, like any other Sacrament of the Church, without proper preparation.

Many come simply, without preparation, thinking: the priest will pray, they will dip him in water - and he will be baptized. This is wrong.

Here the matter is much greater and more terrible, here God Himself, the angels themselves stand, accepting our faith, our readiness, and we should not be indifferent.

It is necessary to become a Christian by repenting of sins and being baptized in water so as not to go to hell. To be baptized means to become part of the Church, the family of God's holy people.

So, in the sacrament of Baptism, a person makes a promise that he will live in unity with God, live in His grace, and the person who lives in sin is deprived of the grace of God. And when a person repents and corrects his life, he again approaches God, and the Lord again gives the person strength to further improve from strength to strength. The greatest thing is when a person thinks about the vows he made at baptism and fulfills them in his life.

God bless you Anastasia!

On February 27, 2014, in the Pokrovsky Stavropegial Convent, the chairman of the Synodal Department for Monasteries and Monasticism, the vicar of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra, Archbishop Feognost of Sergiev Posad, performed the rite of minor consecration of the first church in Moscow in honor of the holy noble princes Peter and Fevronia and the first Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated temple.

On March 29 of the same year, the first Sacrament of Baptism was performed in the Pokrovsky Stavropegic Convent in the recreated church in honor of the holy faithful Prince Peter and Princess Fevronia. Preparations for the Sacraments have been fully established in the new church.

Often the desire to be baptized arises in people who do not know the Orthodox teaching to the proper extent, nevertheless they recognize the high moral authority of the Orthodox Church and want to join in its sacredness and grace.

Entry into the Church, otherwise called churching, begins with the Sacrament of holy baptism - the first of the seven Sacraments of the Church. It is also called the second (spiritual) birth.

In baptism, a person mysteriously dies to sins and passions (renounces serving them) and is resurrected together with Christ for a new life leading to eternal life. All this suggests that baptism is an event as important as the birth of a person.

Baptism first of all cleanses a person from all his sins, voluntary and involuntary. The soul emerges from the baptismal font renewed and enlightened. For a baby just born into this world, it is also important to cleanse the nature damaged by sin, which he, unfortunately, invariably inherits from his parents.

The church's baptismal area is equipped with a baptistery for adult baptism. Many people who first came to the Intercession Monastery to Matronushka subsequently decide to be baptized and profess Orthodoxy.

Now the Sacrament of baptism is performed throughout the year, so those preparing to receive baptism must first of all have an ardent desire to follow Christ and live the life of the Church, that is, to participate in the Church Sacraments, in worship, in prayer and fasting.

Usually, those who come to be baptized are required to know at least the Creed - a brief summary of the truths of Christianity, the commandments of God - the basics of Christian life and the Lord's Prayer.

This certainly applies only to adult members of the Church. Children cannot yet understand the accepted teaching and consciously unite with Christ, therefore, when the Sacrament is performed over children whose parents are believers and intend to raise their children in the Orthodox faith, godparents are elected.

At our monastery in the church in honor of the holy noble princes. Peter and Prince Fevronia receives the sacraments of baptism and wedding.
